Preparing for licensure is an exciting time but it can also be scary without the right support.  As an intern, you need a supervisor who can create a tailored, structured, supervision plan and schedule that works best for you.  I'd like to take a moment to share wit you my personal model of supervision.  Hopefully this will help you determine whether I would be a good fit to serve as your qualified supervisor for state licensure.  Currently, I am qualified to provide supervision in the State of Florida.

Supervision Model

Just as every counseling theory has a different approach, there are multiple models of supervision.  Supervision itself is a distinct skill that a clinician develops over time and every clinician has a different and unique style.  I believe my supervision model to be eclectic-borrowing from the best parts of several models to make supervision as effective as possible.  My personal supervision model combines mainly components of the Interactional, Relational, and Developmental models.  I view supervision from a system's perspective, taking into account how supervision affects clients, counselors, agencies, communities, supervisors and interns. Relationship is central to supervision, just as it is central to therapy. I believe in establishing a reciprocal relationship that creates an open, safe, collaborative, atmosphere between myself as the supervisor and you as the registered intern. I also hold to the tenant that growing as a clinician has a definite developmental course and the role of supervision is to guide you through that progression.

Together we will create a supervision environment that promotes critical thinking, engages your distinct learning style, fits into your schedule, honors your budget, equips you to be the therapist you want to be and empowers you to grow into a competent, caring, helping professional.  If this sounds good to you, then check out the NEXT STEPS below...
