Couples
Couples counseling is provided for pre-marital counseling, dating couples, co-habitating couples, married couples, separated couples, as well as divorced couples seeking to reconcile. Life Renewal counselors focus on the 4 C's of relationships: Caring, Commitment, Communication, and Conflict Resolution. By assessing and strengthening all four of these areas, any relationship can go from good to better to best. Couples sessions are 50 or 80 minutes. Couples can request intensives or longer sessions if needed.
Approach
Life Renewal utilizes a variety of methods and resources to help couples improve their relationships. Our primary method of couple's counseling is the research based Gottman's Couple's Therapy approach. Among others used are IMAGO therapy (described below), Prepare/Enrich, Emotion-Focused Therapy, Intimate Encounters, The DNA of Relationships, Saving your Marriage Before It Starts, Great Sex God's Way, and other resources that can be tailored to the individual couple.
Gottman Couples Therapy
Utilizing years of research, Dr.'s John and Julie Gottman have created a simple and effective approach for working with couples to help them build a sound relationship house. Their tools and skills can help any couple overcome 4 of the most detrimental marriage behaviors and rebuild friendship and trust.

IMAGO Therapy
For many couples, the dreams they had when their relationship began have never fully been realized. Through the process of IMAGO therapy, a couple is introduced to a new way to talking and relating to each other than can renew, rebuild, and restore the areas of the relationship that have lost their passion and connection. See the videos below for an explanation of this approach to couple's counseling. While IMAGO is not the only approach used with couples at Life Renewal, the IMAGO skills are valuable tools in the healing of any relationship.
